Source: Press Release

Jiangxi Copper Co., China's biggest copper producer by output, said Wednesday it is seeking opportunities to invest in overseas copper assets, but didn't elaborate.

General Manager Tang Delong said the company plans to raise its capital spending to CNY3.4 billion this year from CNY3.0 billion in 2009.

On Tuesday, the company said its 2009 net profit rose 4.3% to CNY2.38 billion from a year earlier based on international accounting standards, boosted by higher product prices. The result was slightly lower than the average CNY2.60 million forecast of 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.

The company's revenue fell 4.2% to CNY51.43 billion from CNY53.69 billion according to international accounting standards.
