In a drive against illegal mining of minerals, district administration on Saturday recovered 1200 tonne manganese ore worth nearly Rs 1 crore from a firm in Sivar Balla Tola village under Varaseoni sub division.

The illegally dumped manganese ore belonged to a Faridabad-based firm which has a licence to excavate the mineral in the six acre area, official sources said.

The manganese ore was dumped near the mine allotted to the firm, but the total quantity is more than excavated from that particular area, the sources said.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mr J L Ahate and Tehsildar Mr R B Devangan seized the ore, they said.

Since the drive was launched a total of 1500 tonne manganese ore was recovered from the area.
