Doe Run Peru issued an statement reporting that it would take three months to resume operations at La Oroya metalurgical complex.
José Mogrovejo, vice President of Environmental affairs, refused to give further details, but indicated that the company will keep on paying their workers 65% of their regular salaries.
Mogrovejo had a meeting with representatives from the workers' union to inform them about these issues, and he rejected the insistent rumours telling that Doe Run might be selling its shares soon.
The union representatives told the press that they will have an official assembly in order to decide what actions they will take regarding to this issue.
Doe Run needs US $200 million to pay its suppliers, acquire more concentrates and finish its program of environmental mitigation.
