Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation Plc said its Group production volumes overall for the quarter ended 31 December 2009 further improved on the levels of third quarter 2009, in line with its expectations.
During the fourth-quarter of 2009, the Ferroalloys Division produced 448 kt of ferroalloys, up 54.5% from the same period in 2008. Ferrochrome production increased 56.7% compared with fourth-quarter 2008, while Iron Ore Division production volumes rose very strongly compared with the last year, reflecting the recovery in market activity.
Meanwhile, the Coal extraction grew 11.0% compared with the 2008 period, in response to a recovery in demand. Electricity generation was up 23.9% compared with the previous year, due to increased demand and reinstated capacity.
