LME copper fell 2.4% to $7,055/mt, extending losses from the previous session.
"Overall, the sentiment in the market remains rather shaky and market participants are waiting for new economic data to give more insight regarding the near-term outlook," Credit Suisse said in a research note.
"If those numbers surprise to the upside as our economists expect, we think that prices could start turning higher again," Credit Suisse said.
"Investors are very concerned about tightened liquidity in the market. It is happening, as reflected in the weakness of commodities and equity markets," said Lin Yuhui, deputy general manager of Jinhui Futures.
Aluminium sank to a 7-week low of $2,127/mt. Zinc fell to a two-month low of $2,182/mt.
