China produced 3.48 million tons of refined copper in the first 10 months of 2009, up 9.7 percent from the same period in 2008, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Nov. 11.

The country's refined copper output in October alone stood at 399,300 tons, up 1.1 percent from the previous month.

China's refined lead, zinc, and nickel production from January to October also saw year-on-year increases, up 19.4 percent, 5.8 percent, and 17.9 percent respectively to 3.16 million tons, 3.52 million tons, and 176,651 tons.

However, primary aluminium production dropped by 5 percent year-on-year to 10.37 million tons during the ten-month period. The country's alumina output also fell by 2 percent to 19.02 million tons in the same period.

Copper concentrate output increased by 7.1 percent on an annual basis to 834,100 tons during the first 10 months.

The country's copper and aluminum product output grew by 18.7 percent and 12.1 percent year-on-year respectively during the period to 7.86 million tons and 14.10 million tons.
