China manganese prices rise due to tight supply

Spot manganese prices in eastern China rose after producers scaled back output, squeezing market supplies, traders said on Friday.

Prices for manganese, widely used in the stainless steel sector, rose 9 percent on the week, to 15,400-15,600 yuan ($2,253 -$2,283) per tonne, up nearly 40 percent from their lowest in November.
