Kenmare Resources production ramp-up makes progress

Kenmare Resources (AIM: KMR) confirmed this morning in an interim management statement that it was making progress in ramping up production at its Moma Titanium Mineral Sands Project in Mozambique.

Kenmare has been hit by various operational hiccups at Moma, and was forced to raise an additional $30 million in August to provide working capital while it moves towards full production and undertakes a feasibility study to expand the capacity of the mine.

Today Kenmare said that in September it dredged 32% more in-situ ore than August, and 7% more than its best month, which was June. 50,000 tonnes of Heavy Mineral Concentrate was produced in September, up from 33,500 tonnes in August and 43,500 in June.

Kenmare also stated that September production was hit by a fault in Mozambique’s electricity transmission system, which resulted in 62 hours of lost production.

The company shipped 11,000 tonnes of ilmenite in Septmber and 10,000 tonnes in early October.

Kenmare Resources main asset is the Moma Titanium Minerals Mine, located on the coast of Mozambique. The Moma Mine contains reserves of heavy minerals which include the titanium minerals ilmenite and rutile, as well as the high-value zircon mineral. – Proactive Investors
