Thanks to the income from tin sales this year, the Bolivian government cashed 71 million dollars between January and May, according to reports published Friday by local media.
Bolivian metallurgic enterprise VINTO reached revenues for that figure, thanks to exports and domestic commercialization of metallic tin, together with an alloy of tin and antimony.
VINTO is a state enterprise in the Bolivian western department of Oruro. Its main clients are companies from China, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela.
The digital version of local newspaper El Diario assured that favourable situation is the result of the increase of tin prices in the international market.
The fine bar of tin registered an increase of over a dollar in the market in June, after starting out with 9.34 dollars, and reaching 10.53 dollars in recent days.
VINTO president Francisco Infantes told El Diario about the plans to start treatment for other minerals such as zinc, bismuth and copper. – Prensa Latina
