India: Tin ingot up on global cues

Tin ingot continued its upward march and gathered another Rs 20 a kg in the wholesale non-ferrous metal market on Thursday largely in line with firming trend at London Metal Exchange.

However, zinc, nickel softened for want of support. Traders said overnight gains at London Metal Exchange (LME) where tin prices flared up by a whopping $1125 at $23,600 per tonne led to a rise in its prices in the wholesale market here. At wholesale ma rket tin ingot shot up by Rs 20 at Rs 1070 a kg.

On the other side, zinc ingot (Hindustan) shed a rupee at Rs 118 a kg after its prices fell by $32 a tonne at $2238 a tonne at LME. Nickel plate 4x4 was down by Rs 5 at Rs 1355-1445 per kg.
